Typically, the best way to see how much THC is inside a THC cart is to check the product’s lab report. Here, you can get a detailed description of the product’s cannabinoid content, extract type, and percentage of vape juice, all of which affect the THC concentration inside your cart.
But what happens when a THC cart carries more than one cannabis-derived THC cannabinoid? Does your cart now have twice the amount of THC? What if that cart has live resin or live rosin? Do terpenes and flavonoids really impact THC’s fun-fueling effects? And does a one-gram vape cartridge contain more THC than a two-gram vape cartridge?
Before you exhaust your twenty questions, let’s help you answer all your curious queries in one fell swoop. Here, we’ll help you decipher just how much THC is buried inside your THC cart. We’ll explain how different cannabis extracts, like live rosin and resin, affect the cart’s flavors and feels. We’ll show you what else is inside your chosen THC carts, and we’ll bust out a comparison table to help you discern just how much THC is inside your cart.

What Is a THC Cart?
A THC cartridge is a slender glass tube that twists onto a 510-threaded vape battery. This device carries an atomizer, an absorbent wick, and around one to two grams of vape juice: everything you need to properly puff some decadent THC vape juice. Just twist it onto your vape battery and get to puffin’.

What’s Inside a THC Cartridge?
To help you really get a sense of how much THC is inside your vape cartridge, you’ll need to know just what’s inside. Just because a vape cart says it contains “one gram of decadent vape juice” doesn’t mean that that whole gram is THC. A few other ingredients are at play, like vape liquids, terpenes, flavonoids, and a variety of other cannabinoids.
Cannabis-based Compounds
Inside our suite of vape carts, we highlight either one specific cannabinoid or a blend of cannabinoids, each one fully equipped to roundhouse your cerebellum to the Moon’s sunny side. Plus, we make these vape carts with live resin or live rosin cannabis extract: two types of extracts that are teeming with terpenes, flavonoids, and a myriad of other cannabis-based compounds. Each of these compounds delivers its own unique spin on the vape cart’s effects, and each affects the concentration of THC inside your vape cart.
Flavored Vape Juice
Alongside a mix of cannabis-based cannabinoids, THC vape carts are also made with propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerine (VG). PG is responsible for carrying most of the flavor while providing a pretty strong throat hit, a sensation many might not be fans of; PG is the flavoring agent, while VG offers most of the vapor. High PG/low VG vape juices are strong in flavor (and throat hit) while not making much smoke. Low PG/high VG don’t carry much flavor but create copious amounts of vapor.
Just like our THC vape pens, our THC carts are made with a balance of PG and VG, giving you the best flavors and sensations imaginable.
Understanding Milligrams of THC in a THC Cartridge
So, now you should know that one-gram vape cartridges don’t always carry one gram of pure THC extract. These carts also contain other compounds, like vape additives and liquids. Plus, some use a number of cannabinoids to layer in effects. Let’s take a look at what that means and how it affects your velvety vibes.
Blends of Cannabinoids vs. Single Cannabinoid Formula
If only one cannabinoid headlines a vape cart, then you just have that one cannabinoid to credit for your velvety vibes. (Obviously.) Typically, this cannabinoid will be paired with vape oil and additives to let you toke some seriously potent puffs.
But, when other cannabinoids tag along that one cannabinoid, we open the party up a little. Each cannabinoid offers its own variety of effects for mind-body bliss. When your body absorbs more than one simultaneously, they play off one another, building up to a stronger euphoric crescendo.
Types of Cannabis Extract
Another main contributor to the types of effects from a THC cartridge comes from the type of cannabis extract used. Different types of cannabis extract offer additional compounds, like terpenes and flavonoids, that add their own flavors and feels. For example, vape carts with live resin carry less THC cannabinoids but more terpenes and flavonoids. Vape carts with distillate extract, on the other hand, deliver a higher potency of cannabinoids, but without the added aromas and effects from flavonoids and terpenes. So, there is a slight tradeoff when you’re choosing between these types of vape cartridges.
Feature | Live Resin | Distillate |
Extraction Process | Extracted from fresh, flash-frozen cannabis plants to preserve terpenes. | Extracted from dried and cured cannabis, then highly refined. |
Terpene Content | High terpene content, preserving flavors and aromas. | Low terpene content; often requires added terpenes for flavor. |
Cannabinoid Potency | Moderate to high potency; balanced with terpenes. | Very high potency, focusing primarily on a wide range of THC cannabinoids. Distillate is typically more potent than live resin |
Flavor Profile | Rich and true to the plant’s original profile. | Neutral; flavor depends on if terpenes are added. |
Appearance | Often amber and viscous, more natural-looking. | Clear, almost colorless, or slightly golden. |
Lookin’ at a Lab Report
To really get a sense of the amount of THC in a vape cartridge, it’s always best to check the product’s lab report. Lab reports are third-party tests that show the product’s chemical composition, including the amount of THC per gram. Take a look at the lab report for our Green Crack Live Resin Delta 8 Cartridge. This report shows that the only cannabinoid found in this product is the wild ’n’ wonderful delta 8 THC, which makes up around 900mg per gram. The other 100mg includes the product’s vape liquids and live resin compounds.
How Much THC per Puff?
Now, while you’re curious about how much THC is in a cart, you’re probably also wondering about how much THC is inside each puff. Since there are around 400 puffs per one-gram vape cart and there’s around 900mg of THC per gram, that means that this vape cart offers around 2.25mg of THC per puff. 2.25mg is a pretty standard dose of THC, letting you enjoy a mildly elevated mood.
But that measurement is just an average. You also need to take into account your unique tolerance for THC, how often you puff delta 8 THC, and how big (or small) your puffs are. The bigger pulls you take off the vape cart, the stronger the effects. The smaller the puff, the more subtle the effects.
Parting Thoughts
Now you know how to find the amount of THC in your THC carts, and we even dabbled into the math needed to see the amount of THC per puff. But remember, like we said before, a myriad of factors affect these numbers. So, be sure to check the product’s formula for additional cannabinoids and cannabis-based compounds, like terpenes and flavonoids. Also, when factoring in the strength of each puff, remember that these numbers are just a baseline. The amount of THC you get from each puff will vary.
Safe travels, fellow TRĒ Huggers!
